297 Madhya Pradesh Tourism has officially launched the PM Shri Tourism helicopter service, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in India to enhance regional air connectivity for tourists and pilgrims. The service, inaugurated under the Prime Minister’s PM Shri Tourism initiative, will link major religious, cultural, and natural destinations across the state — including Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Sanchi, and Khajuraho. Operated in collaboration with Pawan Hans Limited, the programme aims to make travel faster, safer, and more comfortable for visitors exploring remote heritage circuits. Officials from the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board said the initiative aligns with the state’s goal of positioning itself as India’s spiritual and cultural heartland. By combining helicopter routes with existing tourism infrastructure, the government hopes to attract high-value domestic and international tourists seeking premium, time-efficient travel experiences. The PM Shri Tourism helicopter service also underscores the central government’s focus on “last-mile connectivity”, bridging gaps between major cities and religious or eco-tourism sites that were previously difficult to access. According to tourism authorities, the service will soon expand to cover wildlife and adventure zones, further diversifying Madhya Pradesh’s tourism portfolio. The launch reflects India’s broader strategy of integrating aviation, culture, and tourism for inclusive regional growth.
