WhatsApp has unveiled a significant holiday‑season update that brings a fresh suite of features across calls, chat, Status, and Meta AI image tools. The highlight is a missed call messages feature that replaces traditional voicemail. Users can now leave voice or video notes immediately after an unanswered call, depending on the type of call — making it simpler to communicate without additional steps.

Another major addition is the Meta AI image upgrade, which enhances in‑app image generation with newer AI models and includes image animation functionality. With this tool, users can animate static photos into short videos using text prompts, making chats and Status updates more expressive and dynamic.

WhatsApp is also introducing interactive Status stickers, including music lyrics and question prompts to make Status updates more engaging. On desktop platforms, a new media tab helps users better organise documents, photos, videos, and links across chats.

Other improvements tied to Meta AI and communication include enhanced link previews, voice chat reactions, and an updated video call experience that may automatically spotlight active speakers. These enhancements are designed to make WhatsApp more creative, interactive, and efficient — particularly as users connect during the festive season.

According to reports, the update is rolling out gradually, with features becoming available to users on mobile and desktop versions of WhatsApp in the coming weeks.
