TL;DR:

Beauty brands are moving festive marketing beyond seasonal ad bursts into digital shopping journeys. With Gen Z and non-metro shoppers driving online beauty demand, virtual try-ons, creator content, marketplaces and quick commerce are becoming central to discovery and conversion.

Article:

India’s beauty brands are treating festive marketing less as a short burst of celebrity-led advertising and more as a connected digital shopping journey spanning discovery, creator content, virtual try-ons, marketplaces and quick commerce. The shift matters because purchase intent is increasingly formed online well before checkout, forcing brands to compete on utility and conversion, not just seasonal visibility.

The demand signal is hard to ignore. Flipkart said in June 2026 that its beauty and personal care category grew 50% year on year, with Gen Z driving nearly 60% of purchases; two in three beauty searches on the platform came from non-metro India. Those are platform figures, not a market-wide measure, but they explain why festive plans are widening beyond metro-centric, campaign-first thinking.

The performance case is becoming clearer too. In an Amazon Ads case study, Maybelline’s Lipstick Finder and virtual try-on campaign in India lifted conversion rates by 63% and generated more than 1.6 million product-page visits. “The Lipstick Finder simplified shade selection, helping shoppers find their perfect match and drive engagement,” said Elina Cyriac, Maybelline New York’s online brand manager. The lesson is practical: interactive tools can remove a real purchase barrier in colour cosmetics.

Festive strategy is also becoming more measurable. Sensor Tower says digital ad investment in India now shows a pronounced festive build-up from July into October, while quick commerce is turning beauty into a faster replenishment and impulse category. Redseer-linked industry data estimates annualised beauty and personal-care sales across India’s three largest quick-commerce platforms are approaching $1 billion.

For beauty marketers, the edge this season will come from joining discovery, trial, fulfilment and measurement into one journey, not from abandoning offline reach. A campaign that earns attention but makes product choice difficult risks wasting its most expensive traffic.
