La Liga has confirmed that one of its upcoming regular-season fixtures will be played in Miami, USA, as part of a wider effort to globalise Spanish football and engage with its rapidly growing international fan base.

The initiative, supported by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and U.S. partners, is being positioned as a “reward for fans” who have helped elevate the league’s global popularity. Rafael Louzán, President of RFEF, said the match would serve as a “bridge between continents,” showcasing La Liga’s competitive quality to new audiences.

While previous attempts to host Spanish league matches abroad faced logistical and legal hurdles, this move has been greenlit following coordination between La Liga, clubs, and FIFA, ensuring that the event aligns with international regulations.

The Miami fixture will include extensive fan-focused activations such as pre-match festivals, youth clinics, and cultural showcases, underlining the league’s ambition to blend sports with entertainment and community engagement.

This initiative is part of La Liga’s broader “Football Beyond Borders” strategy, which aims to strengthen the league’s footprint across North America, Asia, and the Middle East through partnerships, digital engagement, and overseas matches.

Industry observers see the Miami match as a symbolic moment — reaffirming La Liga’s intention to compete with the Premier League’s global influence and foster deeper connections with its U.S. fan community.
