125 India’s dairy sector contributes a substantial 25% to the nation’s food and beverage (F&B) industry, the Executive Director of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) revealed at Anuga FoodTec India 2025. The F&B industry in India is valued at ₹75 trillion, supported by vast arable land and robust consumer spending—over 40% of household expenditure. NDDB’s ED highlighted that India contributes one-fourth of global milk production, a sector worth approximately ₹12 trillion. This sector sustains 17 million dairy farmers across 235,000 villages—with 35% women participation. Impressively, cooperatives return 75% of the consumer rupee back to producers, driving ₹2.1 billion daily into the rural economy. The report also underscored growth in food processing and food-tech trends: the former is growing at 8.8% CAGR, expected to double by 2030, while food-tech is accelerating even faster at 14% CAGR. Alongside this, equipment and packaging machinery markets are gearing up for scale—expected to reach $1.5 billion and $6.6 billion respectively within the decade. According to NDDB’s ED, White Revolution 2.0 will strengthen this foundation further by establishing 75,000 new cooperatives by 2028–29—fostering greater rural participation and milk supply stability. Dairy is more than nourishment in India—it’s an economic cornerstone. With infrastructure driving both growth and equity, the dairy sector is poised to remain a key pillar of rural prosperity and F&B innovation through 2030 and beyond.
