Pedigree launches an AI platform to match people with adoptable dogs, turning tech into a tool for real-world companionship.

Article:
Pedigree has launched an AI-powered platform in Brazil designed to facilitate responsible dog adoption by matching potential owners with suitable pets. The initiative, called melhoramigo.ai, uses conversational AI and personality-based compatibility testing to connect users with dogs available through local NGOs.

The campaign arrives as brands increasingly explore meaningful applications of AI beyond automation or novelty. Developed by AlmapBBDO, the initiative positions technology as a bridge to real human-animal relationships rather than a substitute for them. It also builds on Pedigree’s long-running adoption program, which has already helped more than 88,000 dogs find homes.

The platform works by guiding users through a series of questions to assess lifestyle, personality, and preferences, then recommending dogs that best fit their profile. More than 200 dogs are already listed through partnerships with organizations like Instituto AMPARA Animal, expanding visibility for animals in need of adoption.

“The bond between people and dogs brings all sorts of benefits… from companionship to unconditional affection,” said Ricardo Marinho, marketing manager at Mars Pet Nutrition Brasil. Studies from the Waltham Petcare Science Institute reinforce this, showing 86% of people say pets improve mental health, while 69% report reduced stress and anxiety.

The campaign’s rollout used a two-phase strategy, beginning with mysterious AI-themed teasers across São Paulo before revealing Pedigree as the brand behind the tool. Influencer Felca amplified the conversation by questioning whether AI could replace real friendship, setting up the campaign’s central message: it cannot, but it can help you find it.

The broader implication is clear. As AI becomes ubiquitous, brands that apply it to tangible, human outcomes, not just digital experiences, are more likely to resonate. In this case, technology doesn’t replace connection, it enables it.
