Article:

Nielsen has launched Ad Intel AI, a conversational platform designed to turn fragmented advertising data into real-time intelligence on competitor spending, creative strategy and emerging market shifts. The timing reflects a wider move among marketers from retrospective dashboards towards faster, AI-assisted media decisions.

The platform draws on Ad Intel datasets covering 5.5 million brands, 4.6 million advertisers, 23 media types and more than 90 international markets. Users can query data spanning television, connected TV, streaming, retail media, search, social, digital, audio, print and out-of-home advertising.

Unlike a conventional reporting tool, Ad Intel AI is intended to identify changes in competitors’ media spending, surface recurring creative messages and flag trends before they become widely established. It can also connect with customer-built AI agents through the Model Context Protocol, allowing businesses to bring advertising intelligence into their existing workflows.

“The AI race relies on the most accurate data,” said Nielsen Chief Product Officer Akhil Parekh, arguing that the company’s combination of behavioural data and AI could help convert media fragmentation into clearer commercial decisions.

The product arrives as AI becomes increasingly embedded in marketing operations. Nielsen’s 2025 global marketing survey found that 59% of marketers regarded AI-led campaign personalisation and optimisation as the industry trend likely to have the greatest impact. Half of surveyed companies were already using AI for quality assurance, while 46% used predictive analytics.

Its value, however, will depend on data coverage, transparent methodology and whether recommendations remain reliable across markets. Speed can narrow the gap between insight and action, but marketers will still need human scrutiny before shifting budgets on an algorithm’s advice.
