35 TL;DR: Godrej Consumer’s faster-growing “speedboats” now account for about 15% of its India portfolio. The company is betting that air care, liquid detergent, toilet cleaner and other emerging categories can become much larger growth engines by FY30. Article: Godrej Consumer Products is pushing its next phase of India growth beyond soaps and mosquito repellents, scaling faster-growing categories including air fresheners, liquid detergent, incense sticks, toilet cleaner and pet care. The shift matters because it opens new volume pools in underpenetrated markets while reducing reliance on businesses vulnerable to commodity swings and weather-linked demand. Management said in recent annual-report commentary that three key “speedboats” — Godrej Aer, Godrej Fab and Goodknight Agarbatti — have grown from roughly 8% of its India portfolio in FY24 to about 15%, expanding at 35–40% annually. Broker research says the company is targeting roughly 40% of India revenue from such faster-growing businesses by FY30. The operating evidence is already visible. In Q4 FY26, Godrej Consumer’s India home-care business grew 12%, with air fresheners and fabric care maintaining strong momentum. Its Spic toilet cleaner was expanded pan-India after an initial Tamil Nadu rollout, while the company has committed ₹500 crore over five years to its pet-care business. Managing Director and CEO Sudhir Sitapati described the logic succinctly: “The organic story is where the compounding is most visible.” An institutional brokerage has similarly argued that the company is “entering a phase of double-digit volume growth”, citing its core categories, speedboats and international recovery. Execution remains the test. Sitapati has previously acknowledged that a ready-to-mix body wash failed because the underlying category was insufficiently developed. New FMCG categories become durable growth engines only when product, price, distribution and consumer habit move together. Godrej Consumer now has to turn its speedboats into sizeable franchises without sacrificing margins or marketing efficiency.
