The United States Navy announced a major contract with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing division of Amazon.com Inc.

The deal, worth $723.9 million, will give the Navy access to AWS’ commercial cloud environment, Professional Services, and training and certification courses for a period of five years. This news follows the Pentagon’s recent award of cloud computing contracts worth $9 billion to Google, AWS, Microsoft, and Oracle, as part of the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability project.

This project will be active for a maximum of five years, ending in 2028.
