The enhanced tuition assistance program offers $20,000 per year to eligible CVS Pharmacy interns pursuing a PharmD degree. Additionally, the new CVS Health/American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Community Pharmacy Health Equity Award provides $20,000 to 21 outstanding student pharmacists facing financial barriers in their education. Prem Shah, Executive Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at CVS Health, highlights the company’s commitment to investing in the future of pharmacy by providing financial assistance and hands-on experience to students. With pharmacy school applications declining, these initiatives aim to increase exposure to the profession and address the growing need for community pharmacists across the country. The tuition assistance program will be available to PharmD graduates interning with CVS Pharmacy, with plans to expand eligibility to interns in their final two years of pharmacy education. Recipients will engage in a flexible learning program to gain valuable experience before entering their professional careers. The Community Pharmacy Health Equity Award, in collaboration with AACP and the CVS Health Foundation, promotes diversity and cultural competence in pharmacy care. Selected awardees must demonstrate leadership, academic success, financial need, and a commitment to advancing patient care. Through these initiatives, CVS Health continues its commitment to fostering a diverse and skilled pharmacy workforce, ensuring quality care for all patients.
