Aramco, a global leader in energy and chemicals, has announced the awarding of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts totaling $7.7 billion for the expansion of its Fadhili Gas Plant in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. This significant investment aims to enhance the plant’s processing capacity by up to 1.5 billion standard cubic feet per day , raising its total capacity from 2.5 to 4 .

The expansion project, slated for completion by November 2027, aligns with Aramco’s strategic objective to bolster gas production by over 60% by 2030, compared to 2021 levels. Additionally, the increased capacity is expected to boost sulphur production by an additional 2,300 metric tons per day.

Wail Al Jaafari, Aramco’s Executive Vice President of Technical Services, emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing natural gas supplies, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and optimizing crude oil utilization for value-added purposes. Collaborating with renowned international firms such as SAMSUNG Engineering Company, GS Engineering & Construction Corporation, and Nesma & Partners, Aramco aims to advance its gas production objectives while supporting initiatives for lower-carbon hydrogen production and providing essential feedstock for the petrochemical industry.
