Edward Jones’ Grassroots Legislative Task Force is convening in Washington, D.C. from March 5-7 for its 39th annual meeting with U.S. legislators. Comprised of over 100 Edward Jones financial advisors and client support team professionals (CSTPs) representing all 50 states, this Task Force stands as the sole volunteer advocacy organization in the securities industry to annually engage with federal lawmakers in the nation’s capital.

Penny Pennington, Managing Partner of Edward Jones, underscored the company’s commitment to enhancing the financial well-being of its clients, colleagues, communities, and society at large. Pennington, who will participate in the Task Force meetings, emphasized the pivotal role of the Grassroots Legislative Task Force in advocating for the interests of savers and investors nationwide.

Notably, among America’s caregivers are 11.5 million individuals caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease. Recognizing the financial toll this disease exacts on families, Edward Jones has been a leading national sponsor of the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s since 2016. This initiative, spanning over 600 communities annually, has seen over 100,000 participants rallying under the Edward Jones banner, raising over $39 million for Alzheimer’s research.

Lamell McMorris, Edward Jones Principal and Head of Policy, Regulatory, and Government Relations, emphasized the bipartisan efforts that facilitated the passage of SECURE 2.0 to extend and expand retirement savings opportunities. McMorris highlighted the need to further support caregivers in preparing for retirement, citing data from the Employee Benefit Research Institute indicating that caregivers are less likely to have saved for retirement and more likely to have retired earlier due to circumstances beyond their control.
