As Muslims globally usher in the holy month of Ramadan with fasting, prayer, and charity, they do so against a backdrop of both celebration and apprehension. While traditions are honored and communities come together for feasts and evening activities, the plight of fellow Muslims, particularly in regions like the Gaza Strip, looms large.

Economic challenges, including high inflation in many countries, add to the concerns of those observing Ramadan. Nevertheless, the spiritual essence of the month, marked by prayer, reflection, and time with loved ones, remains cherished.
In Pakistan, specifically Karachi, Ramadan holds a special significance. Maulana Tanveer Ul Haq Thanvi, an Islamic scholar, notes the city’s vibrant observance, with thousands congregating for prayers and volunteers ensuring ample provisions for worshippers.

During Ramadan, observant Muslims abstain from food, drink, smoking, and sexual activity from dawn to dusk, focusing on prayer and charity. Thanvi emphasizes the importance of compassion and generosity, themes he’ll address in his sermons.
After sunset, the fast is broken with dates, following the tradition of Prophet Muhammad, before evening prayers and iftar, a communal feast shared with loved ones, fostering a festive atmosphere late into the night.
