Verily CEO Stephen Gillett said the company will lay off 15% of its staff in a restructuring move, as it strives for financial independence from parent company Alphabet. The cuts will affect about 240 people, a Verily spokesperson confirmed.

Verily, which specializes in health sciences, is one of Google’s sister companies, operating within Alphabet’s “Other Bets” category.
