Proto Energy, a subsidiary of the Kenya Energy Group, is at the forefront of transforming the nation’s LPG market. KEG has been a leading importer of LPG for over ten years and has built the infrastructure and logistics framework to distribute throughout Kenya and East Africa. 

Under the helm of CEO Amanda Donahue, the brand has risen to take the leading market position in the downstream distribution of LPG throughout Kenya by making an aspirational and much-needed product attainable. She adds that it was a natural progression for the company to establish a downstream distribution business that provides affordable LPG to households and businesses throughout the country.

For her achievements, Amanda was recently conferred The Epoch Award, under the Women in Energy Leadership Award (Kenya, 2023) category, by The Enterprise. Proto Energy additionally picked The Epoch Award for LPG Supplier of the Year (Kenya, 2023), considering how Kenya’s future energy landscape appears dominated by the company that has excelled through Amanda’s remarkable accomplishments and transformative initiatives. Amanda has also left an indelible mark on societal progress with her groundbreaking “Queens of the Road” program.

An alumnus of the University of Colorado Boulder, and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Ms. Donahue’s role comes ahead of an impressive career in corporate America. With a focus on marketing operations and direct sales, Amanda’s strategic thinking skills are key to her role at Proto Energy, and her achievements, awards, and accolades underscore her impactful leadership.
