One of WhatsApp’s more privacy-focused features, View Once messages let users send images and movies that, after being opened once, effectively self-destruct. This is excellent for media files that you don’t want to remain on another person’s phone for an extended period of time.

The function, however, was limited to media messages, such as images and movies. According to a recent source, text messages will also soon be able to use this feature. With the new function, WhatsApp users will also be able to send messages that can only be viewed once before disappearing, similar to how Snapchat works.
