Zimbabwe’s diverse array of investment opportunities will take center stage in Cape Town and Johannesburg next month during the second edition of the Zimbabwe Capital Markets Conference, announced Professor Mthuli Ncube, the Minister of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion.

Following the inaugural conference held in London, the upcoming three-day event aims to provide a platform showcasing Zimbabwe’s deal flow and potential, facilitating strategic capital allocation across various sectors.

The conference, organized by Financial Markets Indaba in collaboration with the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX), seeks to attract institutional investors, investment firms, and the diaspora, presenting a range of avenues for capital deployment.

With the objective of stimulating economic growth and development, the capital market serves as a vital channel for mobilizing long-term funds for national development initiatives.

“In 2023, Zimbabwe’s VFEX registered four new listings across mining, financials, and retail sectors, gaining momentum as a globally competitive platform for capital raising,” stated a spokesperson. The VFEX’s success, coupled with offshore settlement options, positions Victoria Falls as an attractive Offshore Financial Services Centre.

The Government aims to establish the Victoria Falls International Financial Offshore Centre, modeled after successful examples like Dubai and the Isle of Man. Operating in US dollars, the center offers tax incentives and a range of financial services, reshaping global perceptions of Zimbabwe in financial markets.

The conference agenda includes presentations by VFEX-listed companies, plenary sessions with panel discussions, and business-to-business meetings. It caters to project developers, financiers, capital markets players, diaspora investors, and industry professionals.

Panel discussions will explore avenues for investing in Zimbabwe’s Lithium industry, the growth and investability of Zimbabwe’s real estate market, and opportunities in the Victoria Falls International Offshore Financial Centre.

Keynote speakers will include Minister Mthuli Ncube, Zimbabwe Stock Exchange CEO Justin Bgoni, senior officials from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe, and Insurance and Pensions Commission of Zimbabwe.
