Peter Josse has been appointed as the new Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Royal London, a UK-based pension and investment mutual company, effective from March 4, 2024. Royal London asserts itself as the largest mutual life, investment, and pensions company in the UK, managing £153 billion in assets as of June 30, 2023.
Barry O’Dwyer, the CEO of Royal London Group, commends Josse’s appointment, highlighting his dedication to leveraging technology to deliver exceptional digital experiences and achieve positive customer outcomes.
Josse brings extensive experience to his new role, having served at Barclays for over 15 years, where he held positions such as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Digital CIO for the group. Previously, he held executive roles at ABN Amro, including Global Head of Infrastructure and Service.
Josse expresses enthusiasm for joining Royal London, citing the mutual’s customer-owned status as a significant factor. He emphasizes the opportunity to prioritize delivering long-term value exclusively for the benefit of customers, a focus that attracted him to the position.
Josse’s appointment adds to a recent trend of COO appointments across various financial institutions, including Erica Gee at US payment solutions vendor NXTMoves, Mark Haines at wealth management firm JM Finn, and Julian Hynd at UK fintech Chetwood Financial.
