Robert A. Bradway, Chairman and CEO of Amgen, emphasized the facility’s state-of-the-art design and technology, geared towards ensuring the production of safe and reliable medicines for patients worldwide. Known as Amgen Ohio, the facility is poised to play a significant role in addressing serious diseases with the company’s innovative biomedicines.

Spanning nearly 300,000 square feet, Amgen Ohio will accommodate 400 full-time employees and feature open workspaces to encourage collaboration. Moreover, the facility is built to meet rigorous environmental sustainability standards, aligning with Amgen’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality across all operations by 2027.

Lt. Governor Jon Husted hailed the opening of the Ohio facility as a milestone in advanced healthcare manufacturing and a testament to the strength of the American supply chain. The project is expected to generate 400 high-paying jobs and a $40 million annual payroll, bolstering families and contributing to the growth of the Ohio economy.

In line with its commitment to community engagement, Amgen has partnered with Columbus State Community College to launch an inaugural 18-month manufacturing apprenticeship program at the site. This initiative aims to provide opportunities for individuals new to the field or transitioning careers, offering a blend of classroom and hands-on training to cultivate skilled talent without the necessity of a formal bachelor’s degree.
