In a groundbreaking moment for both the Sikh community and the US legal system, Judge Ravi K. Sandill was recently sworn in as the first female Sikh judge in the United States. Judge Sandill, who was born in India and immigrated to the US as a child, has had a distinguished career as a prosecutor and judge in Texas.

In her new role, Judge Sandill hopes to be a role model for other Sikhs and women who are interested in pursuing a career in law. The ceremony, which was attended by members of the Sikh community, the legal profession, and elected officials, was a poignant reminder of the progress that has been made in promoting diversity and inclusion in the US.
