Japanese utility company Tokyo Gas is reportedly in the late stages of negotiations to purchase US natural gas producer Rockcliff Energy from private equity firm Quantum Energy Partners. The all-cash deal, which is expected to be announced this month, is valued at around $4.6 billion, including debt.

If successful, the acquisition would mark a major expansion for Tokyo Gas and increase its presence in the North American energy market.
