Devon Energy Corp has disclosed the retirement of Jeremy Humphers, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Effective March 8, 2024, Mr. Humphers will step down from his current role, marking the end of his 20-year tenure with the company. John Sherrer is slated to assume the role of Vice President, Accounting & Controller, succeeding Mr. Humphers and being designated as the company’s principal accounting officer.

Jeff Ritenour, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, expressed gratitude for Humphers’ two decades of service, lauding his leadership in the accounting domain, technological innovation, and embodiment of Devon’s core value of integrity. Ritenour extended well wishes to Humphers for his future endeavors.

Regarding Sherrer’s promotion, Ritenour conveyed excitement, citing his 12-year tenure at Devon and his track record of leadership within the accounting team. Sherrer’s extensive technical acumen and leadership experience position him well for his new role.

Sherrer joined Devon in 2011, serving in various accounting capacities, with his most recent role being the leader of the Financial Accounting group. Prior to his tenure at Devon, Sherrer spent six years at KPMG in audit. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from Oklahoma State University and is a certified public accountant.
