Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat) has entered a multi-year collaboration with Google Cloud to accelerate its digital evolution. The partnership aims to capitalize on Google Cloud’s comprehensive capabilities in modern infrastructure, data analytics, security, and generative AI (gen AI) to provide personalized and inclusive digital banking services to Malaysians.

With a commitment to delivering digital banking solutions aligned with Shariah principles, Bank Muamalat will leverage solutions from Mambu, a Google Cloud industry solutions partner, and Backbase. The bank’s CEO and president, Khairul Kamarudin, expressed the mission to introduce the full spectrum of digital banking benefits to Malaysia’s Islamic banking market. By migrating its digital applications and databases to Google Cloud and integrating them with Mambu’s digital core banking platform and Backbase’s engagement banking platform, Bank Muamalat aims to enhance its responsiveness and innovate with enterprise-grade gen AI, ultimately delivering superior banking experiences.

Bank Muamalat plans to strengthen its security posture by deploying Google Cloud’s Chronicle Security Operations and Security Command Center Premium platforms, integrated with Mandiant Threat Intelligence. Additionally, the bank will utilize Firestore for further security enhancements.

Furthermore, Bank Muamalat will leverage Google Cloud BigQuery and Looker, integrated with Google Marketing Platform, to consolidate and analyze first-party data. This includes data collected with direct consent from customers through various interactions on applications, websites, and marketing initiatives.

As part of its cloud-first transformation roadmap, Bank Muamalat will adopt enterprise-ready gen AI capabilities like Vertex AI Search and Conversation to enable staff to extract insights and recommendations from its data repository in natural language.
