In a strategic move to bolster its technological infrastructure, Telecom Egypt, the largest telecommunications group in the country, has partnered with IBM. This collaboration aims to enhance the core operations support systems that underpin the company’s mobile, fixed, and core networks, as well as meet the increasing demands of its expanding subscriber base.

Telecom Egypt, with a commendable revenue of EGP 44.3 billion in the fiscal year 2022, has embarked on an ambitious network capacity and operations investment. By leveraging IBM’s expertise, the state-owned company aims to optimize its telecommunication network management systems, enabling streamlined design, construction, operation, and maintenance of its communication networks.

The implementation of automation tools and cloud solutions, led by IBM’s proficient engineers and technologists in Egypt, will empower Telecom Egypt with swift and adaptable business operations. Consequently, the telecom giant will benefit from reduced operational costs, enhanced visibility into performance data, and minimized resolution time for network-related incidents.

Adel Hamed, the Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt expressed his commitment to providing exceptional communication and information technology services to customers. He emphasized the significance of partnering with IBM to boost operational efficiency, capitalize on automation capabilities, and elevate service quality.

Marwa Abbas, General Manager at IBM in Egypt, shed light on the advanced solution, highlighting its potential to identify, analyze, address, and resolve complex IT issues in dynamic environments. By implementing IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps on RedHat OpenShift, along with the suite of robotic process automation solutions, Telecom Egypt will experience a transformative shift, enabling expedited tracking of network operating capacity and service quality across the nation.

This collaboration follows Telecom Egypt’s recent cooperation agreement with China’s Huawei, which primarily focuses on digital transformation and technological advancements.

In summary, Telecom Egypt’s partnership with IBM marks a significant milestone in its pursuit of modernizing network infrastructure. With an emphasis on operational efficiency, automation, and enhanced customer experiences, Telecom Egypt is poised to revolutionize the telecom industry while ensuring superior communication and information technology services for its valued customers.
