Standard Chartered Bank has announced strategic appointments in its private banking division, enhancing its leadership team and global expansion efforts.

In a significant move to fortify its global private banking division, Standard Chartered Bank has appointed key leaders to lead and strengthen its teams across multiple regions. These strategic appointments come as part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to expand and enhance its wealth management services globally.

Vinay Gandhi has been named the global head of the South Asian community and regional head of Africa, the Middle East, and Europe for private banking. Gandhi, who has been instrumental in driving robust growth in Standard Chartered’s private banking business in Singapore over the past two years, will now take on an expanded role with a broader mandate. His appointment, effective from January 1, 2024, reflects the bank’s commitment to a vital business segment with significant growth potential.

Meanwhile, Foo Tian Ong is set to join the bank as regional head of Southeast Asia and Singapore location head for private banking. With over two decades of experience in private banking, Tian Ong brings a wealth of expertise to the role. He joined Standard Chartered from UBS, where he served as the business sector head for Thailand and the Philippines, overseeing responsibilities for NRI and Vietnam. Prior to his tenure at UBS, Tian Ong honed his banking career across corporate banking, institutional equities sales, and research at prominent financial institutions, with a particular focus on the Thai market.

These appointments underscore Standard Chartered’s commitment to strengthening its private banking business. They have bolstered senior leadership within the private banking division, aligning with the bank’s ambition to expand its services for affluent clients.
