147 Kenneth Ogwang, currently Diageo’s Head of Digital and Technology for Eastern and Southern Africa based at the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) offices in Nairobi, Kenya, has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the board of Stanbic Bank (Uganda) Limited, effective January 2024. Kenneth joins other esteemed board members chaired by Damoni Kitabire. With over 20 years of experience in the IT industry across Uganda, Kenya, DR Congo, and South Africa, Kenneth brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Before joining Diageo, he held various positions at British American Tobacco (BAT) in multiple countries. Kenneth has garnered recognition as a transformative leader in IT within the region. He was honored with the 2016 CIO of the Year Award by dx5ve (formerly CIO Africa) for his outstanding work in implementing a distributor management system for KBL. In 2019, he was nominated to the East Africa CIO Hall of Fame for his contributions to IT development in the region. Additionally, in 2022, he was acknowledged by SOMA awards as one of the top 25 men in digital technology in the region. An alumnus of St Mary’s College, Kisubi (SMACK), Kenneth graduated with first-class honors in Statistics (Computing) from Makerere University Kampala (MUK) and further obtained a Master in Business Administration (Strategy) from the United States International University (USIU) in Kenya. Kenneth is currently based in Nairobi, Kenya, where he continues to drive digital and technological innovation in the Eastern and Southern Africa region.
