149 DBS Bank in Singapore has introduced a unique way to enhance the digital gifting experience for Chinese New Year celebrants by offering QR Ang Bao, a digital alternative to traditional red envelopes containing money. This innovative initiative aims to cater to customers who appreciate the sensory aspect of receiving physical gifts. Lim Bee Bee, Head of Marketing at DBS Bank’s Consumer Banking Group (Singapore), shared that the idea was sparked by customer feedback indicating a desire for the sensory experience associated with receiving money. The QR Ang Bao now includes a special scent called “Huat,” designed to add a layer of sensory delight to the digital gifting experience. Collaborating with the creative agency, The Secret Little Agency, and perfume lab, Oo La Lab, DBS Bank created the unique fragrance named “Huat” for this purpose. According to Nicholas Ye and Mavis Neo, Co-Chief of Creative Officers at The Secret Little Agency, fragrance adds a compelling dimension to the digital gifting process, enhancing traditions enjoyably and unexpectedly. Dan Terry Jacobson, Founder of Oo La Lab, highlighted the significance of scent in evoking emotions and memories. The “Huat” Eau De Parfum captures the essence of prosperity and the festive atmosphere associated with Chinese New Year through its carefully crafted aroma, reminiscent of freshly printed notes and traditional red packets. DBS Bank plans to distribute 2,500 bottles of the “Huat” Eau De Parfum to customers who opt for the QR Ang Bao feature, providing them with a unique and memorable gifting experience during the festive season.
