The U.S. Army has awarded Lockheed Martin a significant $756 million contract to enhance the nation’s ground-based hypersonic weapon system, the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW).

Under this contract, Lockheed Martin will deliver additional LRHW battery equipment, systems, and software engineering support, along with logistics solutions to the Army.

The LRHW program aims to introduce a new class of ultrafast and maneuverable long-range hypersonic missiles capable of launching from ground mobile platforms. This weapon system is designed to deploy the common hypersonic All Up Round (AUR) from the U.S. Navy-managed Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program, incorporating the Army canister, a battery operations center, and transporter erector launchers.

Lockheed Martin has already delivered equipment for the first LRHW battery, known as Dark Eagle, to U.S. soldiers in 2021. The company remains committed to supporting the U.S. Army in meeting critical national security requirements.

With a legacy of over 60 years in hypersonic technology development, Lockheed Martin continues to advance highly advanced hypersonic technology in alignment with its 21st Century Security® vision, ensuring robust support for its customers.
