228 Grasshopper Asset Management, a division of Singapore-based trading firm Grasshopper Asia, has introduced its inaugural fund, the Grasshopper Global Multi-Asset Income Plus Growth Fund. The fund, registered as a Singapore-VCC structure, is strategically designed to attract investment from high-net-worth individuals (HNWI), ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWI), family offices, and institutional investors. The Grasshopper Global Multi-Asset Income Plus Growth Fund aims to combine a traditional multi-asset strategy with a unique twist—a potential allocation of up to 30% to Grasshopper’s low-latency, proprietary trading strategies. The fund’s objective is to deliver low to mid-double-digit returns with low correlation to the general market, accompanied by a Sharpe ratio of approximately 3. Daniel Tan, Director, and Portfolio Manager at Grasshopper Asset Management, will be responsible for managing the fund. Tan, who joined the firm in January 2023, previously served as the Chief Investment Officer of JMC Capital Asset Management’s Singapore office. James Leong, Chief Executive Officer of Grasshopper Asia, expressed, “The Grasshopper Global Multi-Asset Income Plus Growth Fund enables us to open our strategies to investors in a way that blends the benefits of a traditional multi-asset fund with outstanding trading performance.” Raino Saari, Executive Director of Grasshopper Asset Management, added, “Grasshopper Asset Management is bringing a differentiated investment strategy to the market, which we believe will appeal to our target clientele of HNWI, UHNWI, family offices and institutional investors.” Notably, Grasshopper Asia boasts a track record of delivering over 200 consecutive months of profitable trading since its establishment in 2006 by founder John Lin. The firm actively trades in seven markets spanning Singapore, Japan, the US, Malaysia, and Thailand, dealing in futures and equities. Additionally, Grasshopper Asia holds the status of a designated market-maker on the Singapore Exchange (SGX). The regulatory oversight for Grasshopper Asset Management is provided by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
