BorgWarner has forged a strategic alliance with Manufacture 2030, a provider of decarbonization software, to effectively measure and mitigate its supply chain’s carbon footprint. This initiative aligns with BorgWarner’s objective of slashing absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 25% by 2030.

Under the partnership, BorgWarner will leverage Manufacture 2030’s expertise and software to encourage its direct material suppliers to intensify their emissions reduction endeavors. Manufacture 2030 will engage directly with BorgWarner’s supply base to collect data on energy usage in manufacturing processes, encompassing electricity, natural gas, and other resources. This data will feed into an interactive dashboard enabling tracking of emissions and energy reduction initiatives. Additionally, the tool facilitates sharing of best practices for emission reduction.

Volker Weng, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager of BorgWarner Drivetrain and Battery Systems, emphasized the significance of reducing the carbon footprint in the supply base for a cleaner, sustainable future. He noted that offering this software to suppliers enables them to manage, track, and mitigate their emissions, thereby contributing to BorgWarner’s Scope 3 emissions reduction objectives.
