Dell Technologies has announced a new line of AI-enabled PCs powered by Qualcomm processors, alongside a forthcoming server supporting Nvidia’s latest chips, set for release in the latter half of 2024. These announcements were made at an event in Las Vegas on Monday as Dell aims to capitalize on the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) servers and anticipates a recovery in the PC market following a post-pandemic slump.

Spending on AI servers is projected to exceed $33 billion in 2024, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). Dell’s Chief Technology Officer, John Roese, emphasized that while a substantial portion of AI server expenditure is driven by smaller companies in the early stages of adopting these technologies, Dell does not foresee this investment significantly impacting traditional server expenditures. This perspective diverges from the broader market trend, where demand for traditional servers has been uncertain as enterprises increasingly allocate resources to faster AI servers.
