88 Minority celebrates Gyakye Quayson’s victory in Parliament In response to a Supreme Court ruling that highlighted procedural concerns regarding Mr. Quayson’s nomination as a parliamentary candidate in 2020, the Assin North bye-election was organized to fill the vacant seat left by the incumbent lawmaker. The NDC held a competitive internal selection process, ultimately choosing Mr. Quayson as their candidate over Charles Opoku. Analysts anticipated a closely fought race, with the potential for the NPP to gain an advantage. However, following the conclusion of voting on Tuesday, Mr. Quayson emerged victorious, receiving 17,245 votes, which accounted for 57.56% of the valid votes cast. As a result, he will retain his position as the representative for Assin North. In celebrating his victory in the by-election, the Minority caucus in Parliament organized a party for Hon. Quayson.
