Sony Group, alongside other potential buyers, is exploring the acquisition of Infocom Corp, an online comic store operator, in a deal valued at up to 200 billion yen ($1.28 billion), as per Bloomberg News sources on Thursday.

Teijin, the parent company of Infocom, intends to divest its entire approximately 55% stake, scheduling a second round of bidding for mid-May, Bloomberg reported, citing multiple insiders. Among the likely bidders are U.S. investment firms Blackstone and KKR.

According to Bloomberg, some bidders are eyeing a complete acquisition of Infocom’s shares through a tender offer, potentially valuing the deal at 200 billion yen, as mentioned by one source. Sony is reportedly planning to collaborate with investment fund Integral Corp in its bid, according to another Bloomberg source.

Infocom operates MechaComic, Japan’s largest digital comic site, according to its Twitter page. Presently, Infocom’s market capitalization stands at 171 billion yen, based on LSEG data.
