During his keynote address at the Build conference, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the growing adoption of Github Copilot, the company’s generative AI tool, by 1.8 million developers. This tool aims to enhance productivity for computer programmers.

Nadella expressed admiration for developers’ transformative use of these capabilities, stating, “What stands out to me as I look back at this past year, is how you all as developers have taken all of these capabilities and are applying them, quite frankly, to change the world around us.”

Microsoft also unveiled new features for its Copilot AI software, focusing on enhancing business productivity applications such as email and Teams, the company’s video and text chat product. These developments coincide with Alphabet’s Google introducing a similar set of AI tools aimed at assisting users with office applications.

Furthermore, Microsoft detailed its new developer tools during the conference, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation in software development.

Following these announcements, Microsoft’s stock experienced a 1.2% increase, reaching $430.67 on Tuesday afternoon and hitting a record high of $432.97 earlier in the session. With a 14% gain in 2024, Microsoft continues to demonstrate its strong performance in the market.
